Turmeric (tur-mer-ic) is a a popular spice in Asian culture that gives curry its distinct yellow appearance.
Turmeric has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. Curcumin is the antioxidant property of turmeric.
Antioxidants are compounds that fight cell damage, protecting your body from oxidative stress (ie. help slow the aging process).
They’re essential to the functioning of your cells, and studies regularly show that diets rich in antioxidants may help lower your risk of infections and disease.
To improve the absorption of curcumin, turmeric needs to be paired with black pepper. Black pepper contains a compound called "piperine" which compliments turmeric allowing you to absorb the antioxidant properties more efficiently (ie: you get better results).
Turmeric can be used in many recipes, but a popular beverage in Ayurvedic medicine is "Golden Milk".

But do know...
Turmeric can stain. So if you spill some on the counter wipe immediately. For blenders, add a little lemon juice to the blender along with vinegar and blend away, it'll help remove the yellow stain. Be careful of fabrics/ clothing too! (White shirts are not recommended when using turmeric)
